What's good? I'm Alex.✌️

I'm a product designer in NYC who's spent the last 15 years making complicated things less complicated. Big fan of design systems, talking to users, and building teams of good folks.

A Brief Work History

Junior

I'm currently the founding designer at Junior, an AI-powered SaaS product built to take the boring work out of consulting.

PayPal

I spent 2024 on the PayPal Design System (PDS) team, supporting an organization of over 300 designers and 1,500 engineers who were users of the enterprise's custom-built react library.

Led efforts from the design system team to redesign the PayPal native app

Used the design system as a vessel to ship rebranded color and type across the entire suite of PayPal products via a dot release

Standardized and modernized the naming conventions of tokens across the PDS system

Hodinkee

From 2021-2023, I was leading product design at Hodinkee, an editorial and e-commerce platform that focused on the luxury watch space.

Led the design and implementation of the company’s first design system, Lume, which supported experiences across all customer- and employee-facing UI.

Led the change to a no-code platform, saving more than $250,000 annually in development costs, and supporting over $4.95M in revenue.

Built a user research practice from the ground up with both internal and external users. Shared feedback, actionable insights, and user needs across the organization.

Asurion

Before that, I was a principal product designer at Asurion, working on enterprise web and mobile apps for a network of more than 19k global employees, and over 300M customers.

Led design and research on a new line of business serving over 1.1M customers annually and generating over $5M in annual revenue.

Frequent contributor to Asurion UI, the company’s proprietary design system.

Mentored and up-skilled designers from across the organization on research, software skills, and more. Ran weekly Figma office hours to help colleagues.

Art Direction & Design

I spent nearly a decade as a designer and later creative director in and around the music industry in Nashville. I worked at record labels and agencies, and also for myself, as a freelancer.

Collaborated with labels such as Universal Music Group, Sony Music, Warner Brothers, Big Machine, and more to provide creative services to their rosters of artists.

Worked with dozens of small businesses and non-profits on brand strategy, visual identity, and websites.

Worked as an Adjunct Professor of packaging design with BFA students at The Art Institute of Nashville.
